WHITING, Ind. (November 12, 2024) — For the fourth consecutive year, Superior Construction, an American family-owned infrastructure contractor, has won the Zero Injury Safety Award® in the Silver Star category from the National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee. This award recognizes companies that have completed between 500,000 and 999,999 workforce hours with zero injuries. Superior is one of only 14 companies nationwide to receive the Silver Star designation.

Established in 2000, ZISA® is an annual recognition program celebrating union contractors, labor representatives, and owner-clients who collaborate to successfully deliver industrial construction and maintenance projects while maintaining injury-free job sites.

Superior’s winning team, the employees on the Whiting Refinery project in Whiting, Indiana, worked 747,920 hours alongside BP Products of North America, Inc. and Northwestern Indiana BCTC employees without any OSHA recordable injuries, an increase of nearly 76,000 hours over last year.

“Safety is our most important core value,” said Superior Construction Division Manager Jesse Hanson. “We believe we must provide our employees with the training and tools to prevent injuries as much as possible. I’m incredibly proud of our Whiting Refinery project employees for carrying out that mission.”

In October, at the 24th Annual Zero Injury Safety Awards® Gala at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., Jeff Carlson, Director of Construction Services, accepted the award on behalf of Superior’s Industrial Division.
