Superior Women in Construction: Sarah Lewis
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (November 18, 2022) — Meet Sarah Lewis, who began her construction career (somewhat unexpectedly) almost five years ago. As she was nearing the end of her college career, she realized she needed an internship to fulfill one of her last graduation requirements at Valparaiso University. On a whim, she reached out to see if the accounting department at Superior was looking for summer help. She never expected her summer internship would turn into such an incredible opportunity, let alone a lifelong career.
“I love my job. Working at Superior has really been an amazing experience. Starting out so young, I really feel like I have grown up here and continue to grow every day,” Lewis said.
Sarah is now a Senior Accountant for Superior Construction and enjoys how every day is nothing short of an adventure. Her favorite part of working for Superior is the family-like connections. Sarah especially appreciates the incredible team dynamic where team members genuinely care about one another and the constant and continuous support of her personal and professional journey.
As a woman in construction, Sarah describes her experience as rewarding. Working in a continuously evolving industry has allowed her to learn and grow in an exciting career field. With Superior’s support, Sarah can work full-time while returning to school to get her MBA without sacrificing quality time with her husband and one-year-old daughter.
For women interested in the construction industry, she says, “If someone tells you, you can’t do something, do it and do it better. Make your presence known, be professional, do not tolerate disrespect, work hard, and success will follow.”
